Mat 5:39  But I say to you, Do not resist evil. But whoever shall strike you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 

Jesus gave this as a commandment and practised it in His life.

Can you narrate one incident of Jesus not resisting evil when he became a victim?

1. I would say, Judas, being the treasurer among the apostles, , having the offering  box with him, while became greedy, but Jesus did not remove him from post. Even when Jesus knew that He will be betrayed by him for money He did not resist.
2. Being silent before Pilate when he asked,

 “John 19:9  Where do you come from? But Jesus gave him no answer” 

Let’s  compare it with another verse in the Bible.

Jas 4:7 “ Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. There is a great contrast between these two verses.

Jesus said not to resist evil. James says, Resist the devil.

Why did Jesus say, “Do not resist evil”? The reason is given in

2 Th 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and guard you from the evil.

It is the Lord who guards His faithful from evil.

Jesus taught us to pray

Mat 6:13  “........but deliver us from the evil”.

 God knows that we, as long as in our human body, are weak by nature. So He asked us to pray for the heavenly protection .

We, in our human nature, can discard  this guaranteed protection  offered by  God, as well. But that will be  dangerous.

Our sinful nature might instruct us,

“You can guard yourself. You know better by experience/age/education  what to be done  at this time.  Why do you need somebody else  to instruct you on this?”

This is the result of “eating from the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil”

In the above verses  “Resist the devil’, ‘Do not resist Evil’

There is only a small difference of one ‘d’-  evil, devil.

Here evil means a lot more than devil. Devil is one of the evils.

Let us see some examples quoted from the Bible.

The above are some of the evils we find in the world. The defence mechanism for the above is only prayer. We have to pray to the Father to protect us from the  evil.

India Predicted to Have 6.8 Million Fewer Female Birth by 2030 due to Sex-Selective Abortions

A study shows that India could see about 6.8 million fewer female births between 2017 and 2030 because of sex-selective abortions.

The PLOS ONE study from Fengqing Chao at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, and her colleagues said there is an “intensity of son preference” in the Indian culture, The Christian Post reports.

“The masculinized SBR (sex birth ratio) for India is a direct result of the practice of sex-selective abortions at the national level,” the paper, titled “Probabilistic projection of the sex ratio at birth and missing female births by State and Union Territory in India.”

“Some states, such as Punjab, have experienced an early and rapid rise in birth masculinity since the 1980s, whereas in North Indian states, the masculinized SBR started to increase later.”

The Uttar Pradesh area could lose the most female births with researchers estimating about 2 million less from 2017 to 2030.

“Our study highlights the need to strengthen policies that advocate for gender equity and the introduction of support measures to counteract existing gender biases that adequately target each regional context,” they concluded.

“Future work may include additional sources of heterogeneity, such as education, religion, and ethnicity, for projecting the SBR in India and extending the SBR predictions for longer-term projections.”

In 2019, a research analyst at the Population Research Institute published an opinion piece in The Christian Post saying that since 1990, about 15.8 million girls “have been eliminated through sex-selective abortion and other forms of prenatal daughter elimination.”

“To put that in perspective, that is roughly the equivalent of the population of Portugal and Finland combined,” Jonathan Abbamonte said.

Abbamonte also said China, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and nations in the Balkan Peninsula of Europe are areas where “millions of girls have been lost” because of sex-selective abortion.

Christians in Northern India Forced to Stop Worship, Pastor Says

HYDERABAD, India, September 10, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Harassment of Christians by hard-line Hindus in northern India ended in police coercing a pastor to agree to stop holding worship in his home after an officer threatened to make false charges against his son, he said.

The pastor said the coercion by police in Uttar Pradesh state came after his son, 19-year-old Pawan Kumar, on Aug. 25 asked intoxicated Hindus to stop yelling disparaging remarks about Christianity outside their home in Tarkulwa village, Maharajganj District.

On the night of the triggering incident, the group of Hindus were on the verge of attacking but in their drunken state ended up fighting among themselves, he said. He took his son back inside and locked the door to the Hindus’ taunts of, “Hallelujah, Hallelujah,” which continued into the night, Pastor Sugriv said.

Arriving at the Shyam Deurwa police station, he found his son and one of the Hindus, who had falsely accused Kumar of sexually harassing young women in the village. Police were planning to charge him with sexual harassment, the pastor said.

At length Pastor Sugriv pleaded for them to release him, reminded them of the complaint he had already filed and called the Uttar Pradesh team of legal advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom India. ADF personnel brought the matter to higher police officials.

Pastor Sugrive said he had never left Kumar alone even at his grandparents’ home, much less in a jail cell.

The station house officer was adamant that he would not be released, he said.

“I entrusted my son to my Lord’s hands and left the police station that midnight after the officer retired from his duties,” Pastor Sugriv said. “God gave me the strength at that moment to be prepared for the worst.”

That night after midnight, a spokesperson at the Maharajganj District Police told Morning Star News that the in-charge inspector of Shyam Deurwa police station had been directed to take necessary action, but Kumar was not released.

“It affected him psychologically, he is of tender age,” Pastor Sugriv told Morning Star News. “Even the next day [Aug. 30], the officer refused to release him, but the brothers in ADF’s Uttar Pradesh team did not give up. Finally, in the evening, he was released without any charges.”

As a condition for his son’s release, the officers forced Pastor Sugriv to sign a document vowing that they would never practice their faith in their home or talk about Christ with anyone, he said.

The pastor told Morning Star News he was shocked at the demand, saying, “Don’t we have the freedom to pray even within the four walls of our home?”

Shyam Deurwa Police Inspector Vijay Singh denied that the document Pastor Sugriv signed violated India’s religious freedoms, saying it prohibited only fraudulent conversion.

“Villagers have been opposing them since they have been propagating Christianity in the area, so I had only taken their signatures on a document vowing that they will not forcefully convert or allure anyone to convert,” Singh told Morning Star News.

Singh also denied that police took Kumar into custody that night or the next day or threatened to file false charges against him.

BEATINGS AMID COVID-19

In the case in Azamgarh District, Hindu extremist beatings in Dasmada village in early July that sent a Christian for hospital treatment have caused a house church to stop meeting for worship.

“We are all scattered now and only praying that Lord will allow us to resume the services in Dasmada,” 20-year-old pastor Vikas Gupta told Morning Star News.

He was leading a small group of Christians in worship in compliance with measures to control the spread of the coronavirus on July 1 when a mob of around 15 upper-caste Hindu villagers surrounded the place chanting slogans and threatening to kill the Christians, he said.

“They warned that if I am seen again in the village, they would hack me to death,” Pastor Gupta told Morning Star News. “We had tried to speak peacefully with them, but they were on fire.”

As they had issued threats since the founding of a house church there three years before, the pastor was used to such opposition, he said.

“But to our shock, they returned at around 5 p.m., around 30 this time, and started beating me and three other brothers present in the premises of the home church,” he said. “One of us was severely injured and had to be immediately rushed to the hospital.”

The mob also damaged parked vehicles, the church roof and other property, he said.

On July 6 they returned, saying their relatives had become Christians and were refusing to eat food offered to Hindu gods and goddesses, Pastor Gupta said.

“They accused us, saying we had been training the people who come to church to go against their Hindu relatives, and that because we had been propagating a foreign faith in the village we don’t deserve to live,” he told Morning Star News. “They kept punching us on the back and striking our heads as they took us to a local Hindu temple and forced us to vow that we will not preach about a foreign God.”

The Christians told them repeatedly that they had not trained anyone to oppose them but only gathered at the home to worship and pray, but they ignored them, he said.

With the help of ADF India, on July 7 they filed a police report about the attacks, he said.

Pastor Gupta took refuge at a Christian’s home in a nearby village, and the rest of the members and pastors of the church fled to another community – only to be attacked there at 10 p.m. by about 100 radical Hindus, he said.

“They fled from there to save themselves,” Pastor Gupta said, adding that for the past two months, house-church leaders have sought refuge in neighboring towns.

ADF India’s representative in Uttar Pradesh stated that they have guided persecuted Christians on how to file complaints online amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The harassment of Christians continues even through the lockdown,” he said.

India is ranked 10^th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2020 World Watch List of the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The country was 31st in 2013, but its position has been worse each year since Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014.

Testimonies from West Region – Maharashtra

1) In Troop Church a person affected with cancer was prayed and prophesied over by the Troop members, and the person was healed. They were new believers.

2) One brother was backslided, had attended all the trainings of AOJ, however he went back into the world. But during the lockdown, after attending the school of Hospitality he gave his life to the Lord and made a commitment only to follow Jesus.

3) One sister was healed from severe pain in her stomach during the school of Family Building

4) One sister from Navi Mumbai who works in a parlour, while she was attending online BFF a customer came in and class of Inner Healing was going on, the customer also heard the whole class on speaker and she was so touched and gave her life to Christ.

5) A family from Mumbai was continuously praying for spiritual growth and direction. They were convinced that Institution Church is not the way of the Lord. However they did not know how to come out and where to go. After attending Online BFF they are fully convinced about the Vision and have got a proper direction which they were seeking.

My husband had gone to UK last year and wanted to come back to Goa from March but was stuck in UK for the last 6-7months due to the deadly pandemic spread all across the world. UK was badly hit in the earlier months and during that time my husband had got sick with fever for the 1-2  weeks with fever, vomiting and diaharroea. But after praying, God gave us assurance through a message that no harm shall come upon him and within a week he was completely healed. When he wanted to come back to Goa there were no flights due to stringent  international lockdown. But as months went by and lockdown procedures  lifted gradually, international borders were open but with heavy ticket price hike and stringent protocols on the airport. Current situation in India added to our dismay as things were becoming

pretty bad with cases rising at a staggering rate. But all we did was trusted in God to bring my husband,  back. During one of our troop meetings my husband, told to pray that he would come safely and one of our soldiers of AOJ saw that he had returned home safely. Holding on to the promise we kept praying during our troop church and our personal prayer time to bring him safely and for the covid test to result to be negative. He needed help with his luggage, but the Lord sent a man from our village who was also working in UK to help him throughout the time till my husband entered the flight.

In the end he reached safely without any issues yesterday.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my family members of AOJ in Christ for their prayers. May the Lord bless you all and your family and may the divine favor of the Lord always be upon you. Thank you Lord Jesus for fulfilling your promises to your children.

6. Pastors should look for jobs and get employed
7. No full time pastors for the church.
